Sting and the Jaguar S-Type
One interesting point of cross promotion happened in 2000, when Sting made a deal with Jaguar to showcase his new single, Desert Rose with the new Jaguar S-Type. He had actually used the car in his music video and the team behind the production thought it also promoted the vehicle. They sent Jaguar a few clips and they were just as excited by the proposal. You can read more about how this project took off and how this song become a massive hit for Sting (in large part due to this campaign) HERE.

140,000 km
It wasn't all that long ago that I posted about reaching 130,000km, but last Thursday I hit another mini-milestone with 140,000 km (30,000km of which I put on). Really, it mostly seems worthy of mention because I've become slightly obsessed with the life of my car. She's aged beautifully, but there seems to be a fine line between wearing the car out from use and the car just wearing out because of time. I'd rather know that I made the most out of owing my XJ8 while I had her, and I'm hoping to share a few more road trip stories this summer to prove it.

Fuel Economy
With prices increasing at the pump just before the Easter long weekend, and now hovering around 1.20/L, you have to wonder what it's going to be like this summer. The fact that this old XJ8 requires premium fuel is another kick in the junk, but honestly, I didn't fall in love with this car because of her fuel efficiency. There is an element of sadness behind this though, because the reality is that the more expensive it becomes to drive, the less I'll be able to do it for fun.
I already have a few brief summer road trips planned, but with prices already 8% higher than they were at this time last year, it's only going to take a few years of that happening for the budget to be stretched. Short of buying a different vehicle, which is a far more expensive proposition, what can you really do but complain about it?

Scenes From a Night Drive
With the sunroof and windows open, I drove. Not to go somewhere, just to get lost. Sometimes the road is nothing more than a random path to steer your focus. It's amazing how well it works, especially when the city is sleeping and the streets are your own.
