A New Throttle Body

I've been down this road before, and while previous replacements to fix the TPS and later the throttle body motor were partially successful, using salvaged parts only got me so far.  From the handful of salvaged throttle bodies I've purchased while owning this car, I only ever got a year or so out of them before the TPS would act up again.  My simple switch seemed to fix the problem, but the parts just didn't last.

Last month I got lucky when I stumbled onto an almost brand new Jaguar XJ8 throttle body on eBay.  It looked like someone tried to fit it (someone clearly bought the wrong one), but it didn't have any actual wear or dirt and still had factory covers on it.  I paid $750 for this gleaming new part, which certainly wasn't cheap, but it was a hell of a lot better than the $2300 Jaguar wanted for a new one.  Once again, I did a complete replacement and for the first time in months my car is performing without the occasional bugs that the throttle body used to throw my way.  Salvaged parts are great, but clearly, some are just better new.
